Prototype Code Has Arrived

After discussing and exploring various options we decided to use Google as our project host, for now. Eventually, we will host the project on our own servers in the future. Having a third party to manage the project infrastructure enables us to focus more on development. code.google.com provides version control system, wiki and an issue tracker. We can also use Google Groups for our mailing lists. We are still discussing whether or not to use Google Groups for project mailing lists. We are also yet to decide on whether or not to use the wiki system provided by code.google.com. Personally, I feel, having a dedicated project website compared to a standalone wiki opens up more opportunities and tools to build good community. What is your opinion?

http://code.google.com/p/bizsense/ is our project URL.

Did you notice the name? Yes, BizSense is the name of the project.

We are confident our product makes sense to every business and every business can make sense by using our product!

Google project hosting also has some cool features like RSS feeds for wiki, SVN, issue tracker and downloads. Add the below URLs to your feed reader now.

For those of you who didn't know what SVN is: SVN stands for Subversion which is a software source code version control system. It aids developers to manage continually changing software code. You can find detailed information about RCS and SVN at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revision_Control_System and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subversion_(software) respectively.

Hey, we just have committed the prototype code to the repository. You can check out from SVN to see what it is. There is also a neat source browsing facility. Heck, you can even post comments right within the source browser.
